What is INVISON?
INVISION is our opportunity to take advantage of all that the Lord has given us by increasing the influence of Jesus Christ in the lives of everyone in Bloomington, and the surrounding areas. The purpose of this campaign is to encourage people to willingly grow in the grace of giving -without coercion or pressure. As each of us grows in the grace of giving, God can use us to accomplish His will for His church and use us to meet the needs of our community and future generations for Christ.
What is the plan?
Recently, our pastor and selected leaders in our church, have developed a plan to rebuild and expand our church campus, to better serve our mission of reaching the lost in Bloomington, and the surrounding area. Although there are many details to work out, we anticipate construction will begin as quickly as possible. During the remodeling, and building process, we may experience a few inconveniences. However, the pains of growing stronger, are worth the struggle.
What is the cost of the building project?
The initial estimate for construction of the new sanctuary, and remodeling of the current auditorium, is $ (biding is in process). As theologian John Henry Jowett once said, “Ministry that costs nothing, accomplishes nothing.”
What can I do?
You can begin by praying to know and do God’s will, concerning your gift to this program. Spend time in prayer and meditation of God’s Word as you seek to discover His will. The amount He leads you to give, will be the right amount. (2 Cor. 8:11-14)
What about my regular giving?
Your commitment to INVISION should be an amount God leads you to give, above your regular tithe and offerings. We must maintain our giving to the operating budget, so that day to day church operations will be unaffected. (Acts 20:35)
How should I give?
There are four ways to give. On October 21, all families will be asked to bring a “First Fruits” offering, as we share in the victory of what God has doing and is going to do in the life of our church. Ask God for creative ways to increase your gift. Involve your whole family in raising a specific amount for your “First Fruits” offering. Second, you can make a pledge on October 21. The giving period will last for three years stating on October 21, 2018. You can give far more when it is spread out over time, and you may choose to give weekly, quarterly, or even make yearly payments. Please select the best schedule for you and your family. Third, you can give a gift of assets. In addition to monetary gifts, you may give real estate, stocks, bonds, coins, gold, etc. Call the church office for assistance. (812-336-7224) Fourth, you can make the church a beneficiary in your will. There are many tools available to you that can benefit the church and leave an inheritance for your heirs at the same time. We can put you in contact with professionals in this area, who can help you as you plan. Call the church office for assistance. (812-336-7224)
How will I know how much to give?
Pray daily and allow God to open your heart and direct you to your commitment. Through prayer and personal assessment, you will know what to give. Again, your gift, whatever the amount, should be an over-and-above gift. To split our current giving between the current operation expenses and the new building will prove nothing and will endanger our ability to minister in the present. So, dig deep, and increase your giving above the normal.
How long do I give?
You will receive a commitment card and be asked to fill out the card with the amount you intend to give. You may give weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, or in a lump sum. Most people prefer a system of regular weekly giving; however, you should make your decision based on God’s will and the best method for you.
Will my contribution be made public?
Absolutely not. Only the total amount of all the commitments received will be announced on Celebration Sunday, November 18, 2018.
How will I designate my commitment for INVISION?
Our offering envelopes are printed with open lines at the bottom. In these open lines, enter INVISION, to designate your offering as a part of your commitment. If giving online, in Breeze, select INVISION from the dropdown list.
There has been a lot of money spent on this program: the video, printed materials, meetings, etc. Why are we spending money to raise money?
With the large number of people we have, we can’t sit down one-on-one and share the vision. We wanted you to have materials to take home, and review. We wanted you to have a video to see the plans, from our architects. You will be pleased to know that the costs associated with the program are about two cents for each dollar we need to raise. We are trilled that most of the work has been developed through volunteers, who are passionate about the overall project.
Do we have to raise the entire amount, before we begin building?
Obviously, we need as much financial commitment as possible to go forward. The more money we have up front, the more loan interest we can avoid. Our goal is to avoid any loans and devote the entire amount to equipping our campus for ministry.
Why are we building, rather than remodeling?
Our building is over 36 years old and is showing its age. In addition, the building was arranged to meet the needs of an earlier generation. To better serve, and provide a welcoming environment, we plan to make drastic changes to the present building. However, the changes will limit the use of our auditorium. For this reason, we must build on. In addition, our attendance has reached a maximum comfort zone of 65 to 70% capacity. Studies show, we will not grow past this comfort zone. As such, we must increase our capacity, to allow us to serve more people.
